Invisalign® Do’s And Don’ts
At Ackley Dental Group, we are passionate about offering dental care to our patients that not only improves the function of the teeth and mouth, but can also create an aesthetically pleasing smile. For patients who want or need to improve the placement of the teeth, we offer certain orthodontic treatments. One treatment in particular, Invisalign®, is popular among many of our patients. Invisalign uses clear aligner trays to slowly transition the teeth into their desired placement. This treatment offers a number of benefits such as being virtually invisible, removable, and not requiring food restrictions.
When you start Invisalign treatment, we thoroughly explain all of the treatment and care instructions. We want to share some do’s and don’ts to help you get the most out of your treatment and help you avoid any complications or delays.
Invisalign Do’s
Wear trays properly – Before you start treatment, we thoroughly explain everything, including wear time. We recommend you wear your trays for approximately 22 hours per day.
Remove trays when eating – Eating while wearing trays can damage them. Remember to store trays in a suitable container.
Trays can be left in when drinking water – Remove trays when drinking anything else, especially if it’s hot.
Follow your regular oral hygiene routine – Be sure to brush and floss your teeth properly and clean your trays according to our instructions.
Invisalign Don’ts
Don’t Forget Your Trays – If you have an upcoming trip, make sure to have your next set of trays to avoid treatment delays.
Don’t store trays in a napkin or paper towel – When not properly stored, trays can easily be thrown out by mistake.
Don’t snack and drink all day – If you are a frequent snacker, it is best to change your habits and eat and drink at set meal times to avoid having trays out for long periods of time.
